The ๐ key is built for this.
Make it instant.
On modern Macs the Globe (Fn) key is the obvious place to switch language. macOS can do it โ but it plays an animation. Zwitch makes the same key flip the layout in about 14 ms, with nothing on screen.
The catch: one key, two owners
If macOS still has the Globe key assigned to switching, and Zwitch also listens to it, both react โ and you switch twice. So the key has to belong to exactly one of them. The fix is a one-time setting, and Zwitch walks you to it.
Set it up cleanly
- Free the Globe key. System Settings โ Keyboard โ
Press ๐ key toโ Do Nothing. This is something only you can change โ Zwitch can't flip it for you, so it opens the exact pane and shows you what to switch. - Pick Fn / ๐ as your Zwitch trigger and grant Accessibility once.
- Tap it. Zwitch cycles the layouts you already enabled in macOS, in their order โ directly through the system input-source API, no animation.

FAQ
Can the Globe / Fn key switch layout on a Mac?
Yes. macOS can map the Globe key to switching input sources, but it plays an animation. With Zwitch the Globe key sets the layout directly in about 14 ms, with no animation.
Why set the Globe key to Do Nothing first?
If macOS still owns the key, both macOS and Zwitch react and you switch twice. Setting Press ๐ key to โ Do Nothing frees it for Zwitch, which opens the right pane and shows you what to change.
What if I leave the Globe key on its default?
Zwitch detects the key is still taken and stays out of the way, so you won't get double switching. Free the key to let Zwitch use it, or pick Caps Lock or right Command instead.
